I was rewatching Iron Man and noticed Tony’s subtle reaction for the first time:
Tony is showing Obadiah his arc reactor, this hidden secret, this flaw. He’s nervous, he looks around because Obadiah looked around. It’s 100% personal. Tony (almost) literally opens up his heart.
Obadiah hurriedly shoves it away. It’s an embarrassment. It’s bad for busyness. It’s ugly.As Tony looks at his mentor’s hands, his heart is broken a little bit more.
WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT.

I dunno, but I see Obadiah here as excited as fuck, that’s why he hides that shit away. He’s a corporate shark, that one, and Tony has the keys to the weapons manufacturing/energy distribution kingdom embedded smack-bang in the centre of his chest. That’s going to change the entire game as they know it, and Obadiah doesn’t want that news getting out until he’s good and ready.
